Monsters Vs Aliens!

The only thing more terrifying than a mad scientist cockroach, a 49’-11” tall bleach blonde woman, an indestructible gelatinous mass, an egomaniacal fish-ape and a giant out of control tick is the prospect of creating thousands of visual effects for such an eclectic mix of genetic abnormalities. For Monsters vs Aliens, DreamWorks Animation, including FX animator Chyuan Huang, met this challenge by using Houdini for a wide variety of effects, including force fields, deforming and cracking nose silk, energy extraction, snow storm, clouds, film burn, meteor trails, planetary debris, dust, destruction debris, a hovercraft explosion, and footprints.
